The Jackson boys basketball team competed in the state final four in 2023 for the the first time since 1937. On the campus of Missouri State, the Indians ended up taking fourth place in the Class 6 Final Four after falling to Staley 62-48 in the semifinals and Troy Buchanan 40-32 in the third-place game. For the second time in four seasons, the Notre Dame girls basketball team advanced to the state final four in 2023 and competed in the Class 5 Show-Me Showdown at Missouri State. The 41st annual Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Tour was held on Wednesday, July 14. The annual event tours local farms, manufacturing and industrial businesses around the Jackson area. This year's event included stops at EPS Buildings, Schoen Farms Dairy, Spooler Farms and Midwest Sterilization. The tour is one of the longest running agriculture tour, if not the longest, in the State of Missouri.

The Hemmings Motor News Great Race vehicles rolled into town on June 22, 2021, for an overnight stop in Cape Girardeau. More than 100 vehicles that were manufactured from 1916 to 1974 participated in the rally, which began on June 19 in San Antonio, TX, and concluded on June 29 in Greenville, SC. They passed through Jackson on Highway 72 on their way to Cape Girardeau.

On Nov. 19, 2020, the community officially sent off the Jackson boys soccer team to Springfield as the Indians will play in the Class 4 State Championship game.
Jackson (18-3) took on St. Dominic (23-1) at 6 p.m. on Nov. 21 in what was the program’s first-ever appearance in a state title game.
