Jackson author is publishing series of science fiction books

Brad Friese’s first book is titled, “Power Squad: Water.” Submitted photos

Brad Friese of Jackson has become a published author of science fiction.

Friese works in the laundry at Health-Point Fitness in Cape Girardeau. When it’s time to relax, he enjoys watching animé, sports (the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues) and playing video games.

From watching “Avatar: the Last Airbender,” Friese received inspiration to write his own story. In “Avatar: the Last Airbender,” the characters use elements such as water, earth and air to fight each other. “In my book, they use the same things, and they use ice and light (good) and dark (evil) magic as well,” Friese explained.

“Power Squad: Water,” Friese’s first book, was released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. around Valentine’s Day this year.
In the 38-page paperback, Friese spins a tale that takesplace on Pluto, far out in our solar system.

On Pluto, there is a city called Traunia, home of water-users and ice-users. King Nevada and Queen Eira rule peacefully over their kingdom with their daughter, Princess Nixie.

Just a few days shy of her 17th birthday, Nixie’s parents are killed in a horrific airship accident caused by the vile Lord Duncan and his vicious daughter Neve in an attempt to take over the kingdom.

On the run with her bodyguard Jahir, Princess Nixie is the last obstacle standing in the way of Lord Duncan and Neve’s ascent to power. As more disasters surface and long-kept secrets are revealed, Nixie’s decisions become far more weighted, and the whole solar system hangs in the balance.

Friese has written a second book that is slightly longer than the first. It is titled “Power Squad and Power Crystals.” The publisher is currently working on the cover design for that book.

Meanwhile, Friese has started a third book, which promises to be much longer than his first two.

To purchase a copy of Friese’s first book, visit the Dorrance Publishing online bookstore at https://book-store.dorrancepublishing.-com/power-squad-water/ or you may search Google for the book title. It can be purchased from Walmart, Target, Amazon and Barnes & Noble (online only).
