Cape Girardeau County Commission approved a year-long general engineering contract with Koehler Engineering in Cape Girardeau on Sept. 7.
The county received three other bids from Smith and Company, Hurst-Rosche and Bowen Engineering, but Koehler fit the most of the county’s needs.
Factors in making the decision included if they have geo-drilling equipment, whether they have personnel that could assist with environmental issues including mold, where their concrete testing is located and if they are based in the county.
Koehler will have an option to renew its contract with the county for an additional two years. The contract and pricing negotiation with Koehler have not been finalized.
At the same meeting, the county approved the recommendation from Sheriff John Jordan to award an upcoming jail security audit to Weber & Associates, based in Salem.
