Ingredients:
- 1 c. water
- 1/4 c. salted butter
- 1 TBSP. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla
- 1 c. all purpose flour
- Approx. 1/2 – 1 c. vegetable oil for frying
- Cinnamon-Sugar Coating
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 c. sugar
Directions:
In a medium saucepan combine, water, butter, sugar and salt to a boil. Once it reaches a boil, remove from heat and stir in vanilla and flour. Transfer to a piping bag or (we use a Ziploc bag sometimes and cut the corner) and use a large open star tip. Heat oil (if you have a digital cooking thermometer get the temp as close to 350 degrees for best results). Make in small batches piping out dough (approx.. 1 inch at time) into the oil.
Fry until a light gold brown and remove with a slotted spoon. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the grease. In small mixing bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Toss warm churros in the sugar. Serve warm. (Serves 4-6)
