Donald Darnell

Donald “Don” Darnell, 91, of Jackson passed away Monday Dec. 20, 2021, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Don was born Jan. 19, 1930, to Stella Boucher in Bush, IL.

He and Goldie M. Green were married Nov. 22, 1956, at New Salem Methodist Church in Daisy. She passed away Feb. 13, 2018, after 61 years of marriage.

Don honorably served two times in the U.S. Army: Dec. 30, 1947, to Dec. 29, 1949, and from Dec. 4, 1952, to Dec. 3, 1954, during the Korean War.

Don worked for Western Electric for 37 years until retirement.

He was a member of the New McKendree United Methodist Church, the Excelsior Masonic Lodge 441, and the American Legion Post 158 and its honor guard, all in Jackson.

Don is survived by a daughter, Janette (Ron) Hobeck of Daisy; two grandsons, Kyle Hobeck and Darrin Hobeck (Crystal Edwards) both of Daisy; a granddaughter, Stacy Beckerman (Zach Robinson) of Daisy; two great-grandsons, Konnor Hobeck and Hayden Robinson, both of Daisy; and a great-granddaughter, Ally Beckerman of Daisy; and three siblings, David Boucher of Lyons, IN, and Bill Boucher of Minok, IL, and a sister, Erma Burke of Murphysboro.

In addition to his wife, Don was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Darnell (12/14/2021).

Don and Glenn’s arrangements are as follows: visitation on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, from 10 a.m. to service time, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Andrew Green will conduct the joint funeral ceremony at noon. Burial will follow in the Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Hobeck, Darrin Hobeck, Konnor Hobeck, Zach Rob-inson, Leonard Weber, and Rick Green.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Francis Hospice or New Salem Methodist Cemetery Fund.
