Jeanne Lewis

Jeanne Morgan Lewis, 85, of Port Angeles, WA, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, at Highland Court Memory Care. Her husband, Robert, and daughter, Sarah, were at her bedside.

Jeanne was born Nov. 16, 1936, in Hayti, to Frank and Cecelia Gockel Morgan. Jeanne grew up in Cape Girardeau, where she completed her education and graduated from Southeast Missouri State College in 1959 with bachelor of arts in elementary education.

She married Bob in June 1959 and taught school while Bob completed medical school in Columbia. They moved to Portland, OR, in 1962 and then to Reedsport, OR, in 1963, when Bob joined the Reedsport Medical Clinic. In 1970, they moved to Salem, OR, when Bob began to practice emergency medicine. They lived in the Salem area until 1992, when Bob retired.

They moved to Horseshoe Bay, TX, Sun City Grand (Surprise), AZ, and finally settled in Port Angeles in 2003.

Jeanne liked to entertain friends and family, and her parties were special and fun. She exemplified correctness, respect, love and individual liberty. Jeanne always had a smile on her face.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Bob; three children, Sarah (Griff) Lewis Blackmon, Andrew (Kriss) Lewis and Julia (Scott) Hilbun; sister, Cecelia Henderson; brother, William Reece Morgan; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Aunt “Toots” Gockel; three siblings, Patricia, Don and Frank III; and granddaughter, Maggie.

Memorials may take the form of donations to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, 540 E. 8th St., Port Angeles WA 98362 or to a favorite charity.

No services are planned at this time. Commingled ashes will be interred in a family plot in the future.
