JoAnn (Seabaugh) Kasten, 86, of Jackson, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. JoAnn’s family extends special thanks to the Lutheran Home for the attentive care JoAnn has received the past five years.

She was born June 23, 1935, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, to Arlus J. and Mabel (Talley) Sea-baugh. She and Milton C. Kasten were married December 21, 1958, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. They lived on Bast Street in Jackson until May 2016, when health issues arose.

JoAnn graduated from Jackson High School in 1953 and attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar. She received her bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1959. She retired from teaching in the Jackson R-2 School District in 1986.

She attended Zion United Methodist Church in Gordon-ville and actively helped with children’s Sunday school and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed family get-togethers, researching family ancestry, working puzzles, and crafting. She and Milton also enjoyed going to the Jackson Senior Center and taking bus trips around the country. Most of all, and as often as she could, she treasured spending time with her three grandsons.

Loving survivors include her husband of 63 years, Milton Kasten of Cape Girardeau; her daughter, Rhonda (Bill) Hed-den of Nashville, TN; and her son, Kevin (Carla) Kasten of Lorena, TX; three grandsons, Eric Hedden of Nashville, Brian Hedden of Chicago, IL, and Nicholas Kasten of Lorena.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Evelyn Byrd and Edith Unger.

Friends may call Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, from 10 a.m. to service time, at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m., at the church, with the Rev. Scott Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests masks to be worn for the visitation and funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery or the Jackson Senior Center.
