Shirley Probst

Shirley Jane Probst, age 85, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Marble Hill, passed away July 17, 2022, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 18, 1936, at Scopus, the daughter of Walter M. and Audrey Long Beard. She and William “Bill” Probst were married Oct. 6, 1956. He passed away May 5, 2019.

Shirley was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Jackson.

Survivors include a daughter, Lavada Diana (Sanford) Fredman; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Gloria (Kenny) Hoxworth of Oak Ridge and Gladys Glover of Burfordville.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, she was preceded in death by four brothers Kenneth, Harold, J.W. and Gilbert Beard; and two sisters, Mary Tyler and Nola June Lincoln.

Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2022, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Marcus Kincaid officiating. Burial followed in New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
