2024 All-CBJ Team: Jackson’s Brysen Wessell

As only a sophomore, Jackson’s Brysen Wessell churned out one of the best three-sport campaigns of any Indian in recent memory to be named to this year’s All-CBJ Team.

Brysen was one of the Indians five starting offensive lineman who helped make Jackson’s offense formidable once again. With Wessell, Indians won a sixth-straight SEMO Conference Championship and their fifth district title in the last six seasons. Wessell was rightfully named all-conference and all-district.

His dominant sophomore year didn’t stop there, of course, as he was a state qualifier and conference champion with the Indians wrestling team. He finished 40-8 overall while competing at 215 pounds.

Lastly in the spring, Wessell was a state qualifer with Jackson track and field as a discus thrower.

If Brysen were to give any younger athletes advice to achieve his level of success, he would say, “If anything is hard, you need to stick with it. You might not see your improvement in the moment, but in the long term you will have that improvement. You’ll get the opportunity to have your shot, and you won’t let yourself down.”
