On Friday, Jackson High School officially announced the hiring of Ryan Nesbitt as the football team’s new head coach.
Nesbitt, who will be replacing MFCA Hall of Famer Brent Eckley as the Indians head coach, comes to Jackson from Troy, Missouri. He spent the past nine years as Class 6 Troy Buchanan’s head coach, leading the program to its first-ever trip to the state semifinals in 2021.
In a press release, state-championship winning head coach Eckley had nothing but high praise for Nesbitt: “The philosophies of Coach Nesbitt line up well with the tough, smart and strong culture of the Jackson football program. I have no doubt he will continue to build upon the success of this program because of his passion for helping players be their best, and his appreciation of this hard working staff, as well as being part of such a supportive football community.”
Nesbitt will be taking over a Jackson team that reached two of the last four Class 5 State Championship games.
