2024 All-CBJ Team: Jackson’s Ashlyn Dawes

Never before has an underclassman from Jackson ever been named to the All-CBJ Team until Ashlyn Dawes had the sophomore year she did for the Indians this past school year.

Ashlyn started off her All-CBJ campaign in the fall by making history with the Indians softball team, which won its first district championship in 24 years. Jackson also recorded a school-record 33 wins and reached the state quarterfinals.

Individually, Dawes was one of the Indians five Class 5 All-State honorees. While Ashlyn earned all-state as Jackson’s ace pitcher, she was also quite the dominant force at the plate.

Ashlyn wasn’t done brining home district titles for the Indians there, though, as she also helped Jackson’s girls soccer team win its district for the fifth year in a row. Dawes served as defender for the Indians and earned all-conference and all-district.

As for advice Dawes would give to an athlete, she said, “It’s about putting in work during the offseason, especially when people aren’t watching. It all adds up — one extra bucket of balls, hitting each day or just one extra bullpen session. It really adds up in the end.”
