Bernice Scharenborg

Bernice Scharenborg, 84, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

Bernice was born April 27, 1937, in Breckenridge, TX, to Ray and Florence Reverly Carroll. She and Everett James Scharenborg married July 10, 1956, in Jackson. They had been married nearly 61 years when Everett passed away July 2, 2017.

Bernice worked at Mac’s Diner, Lenco, and 7-11, all in Jackson. After retirement, she assisted Everett in his print shop. After they sold the business, Bernice worked as a greeter at Walmart in Jackson.

She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and assisted with the youth group.

She is survived by a son, Stephen (Kathleen) Scharenborg of Little Rock, AR; two daughters, Sherry Boedeker of East Quogue, NY, and Kimberly (Bob) Bonney of Jackson; and Everett’s siblings, John (Kathryn) Scharenborg, Joseph Scharenborg, and Betty Scharenborg, all of Sunset Hills; and Mary Helen Schuermann of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by Everett’s siblings, Eleanor, Jerome, Wilfred and Martin Scharenborg.

Visitation was from 4 p.m. to service time, Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating.

At a later date, Bernice will be laid to rest privately with Everett at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
